Your data source (HR System) may contain records that are not included in the main hierarchy. You can configure your system to allow you to search for these orphan records. Use the Search What drop-down list to select one of the following search options:
All records: Searches records in both the hierarchy and orphan records.
Orphans w/ Mgr: Searches only orphan records that have valid managers. These orphan records typically report to someone who is not included in the hierarchy.
Orphans w/out Mgr: Searches only orphan records that do NOT have valid managers. Searching these orphan records helps identify records that have invalid supervisor information.
All Orphans: Searches all orphan records.
Notes: The 
icon to the left of a search result
represents an Orphan with valid supervisor information. The 
icon to the left of a search result
represents an Orphan without valid supervisor information.
You can chart orphan records. If the orphan is part of an island (a branch
that is not included in the main hierarchy), the island will be charted.
